Area VIII Annual Meeting Silent Auction Proceeds to Benefit Young Riders Program
At our recent Area VIII Council Meeting, it was decided to award all income from the Area VIII Silent Auction to the Young Rider Program!!!!
The silent auction that is held every year at the Area 8 Annual Meeting generally offers lots of cool horse- and non-horse-related items and raises money for both the Young Rider and Adult Rider programs. For the upcoming January auction, through the generosity of our Area Council and the Adult Rider program, it has been decided that all proceeds from this auction will go towards the Young Rider program. Between the expenses for traveling to Montana for Young Rider championships and the fact that we'd also like to be able to add some additional YR activities in the future that aren't currently in the budget, we'd like to be sure this auction is bigger and better than ever before!!! And for this, we need your help in two ways:
Donations: visit your tack shops, local gift shops, business, friends, family, etc. etc. and solicit donations for the auction: horse items, art and gift items, gift certificates, anything you can think of. Be prepared to explain a little bit about the Young Rider program and its importance to you as a rider. And tell them about you and your horse. The more personal you can make it, the more likely you will succeed in getting donations.
Attend the Annual Meeting: After you have gotten donations, come to the meeting and encourage all your Area 8 friends to come also. The more people that attend the meeting, the more profitable the auction will be. Meeting Details: The Annual Meeting will be held in Dayton, Ohio on January 6-7, 2018. The silent auction is generally that Saturday evening.
Auction Specifics: You can handle your donations and getting things to the auction in one of two ways. You can bring the items to the auction yourself or you can have items shipped to the coordinator.

If you are able to bring the item(s) ready to display on the auction tables, that is great. All Shay needs ahead of time is name of donor and/or your name, your contact phone number and email address, and a description and value of the item(s). With this information, she will be able to prepare a bidsheet ahead of time.
