The Area VIII annual meeting was a great success. The council met early Saturday morning, discussing issues concerning continued ways the new website can serve our community, and also included voting on incoming Area Chair and assistant Area Chair. Other subjects included sponsorship for Area Championships, and changing qualifications to allow more participation in our championships.
Mary Fike, our Organizer Representative, led the organizers meeting, and it was extremely well attended. Several discussions ensued including researching how to add more collegiate divisions and participation in area events, Twin Towers is offering schooling days and schooling shows, and a schedule and more information will be posted on website.
Shannon Risner (Adult Rider Coordinator) also had a healthy attendance for the Adult Rider meeting, discussing upcoming clinics, Nad Noon Scholarship and Adult Team competition.
Laura Miller and Cindy Strader are our Young Rider Coordinators and they presented their new NAJYRC informational pamphlet to the group which will aid in education and process to those considering applying for NAJYRC. North and South Camp dates were discussed as well as several up coming Young Rider clinics.
David O’Connor gave a great presentation Saturday Afternoon talking about his journey to Olympic Gold and Eventing Coach for USA. His learnings, observations, and experiences were enjoyed by all.
Open bar for an an hour preceded our Annual Meeting, dinner and Awards presentation.
Sunday Morning was a real treat with David taking us through his training philosophy and rules:)
He was great in addressing all the questions sent in by the membership.
