Young Rider Program
I would like to invite you to join the Area VIII Young riders Program. The Young Riders Program is open to riders 21 years of age and under who live in Area VIII and are competing at the Beginner Novice level and above.
The purpose of the program is to provide educational opportunities designed to teach young eventers the skills they need to compete safely and effectively, as well as the techniques they must have to meet the challenges of moving to the upper levels of competition. Competition begins at Area VIII events and can lead to selection as an Area VIII team member. Through the NAYRC Program, teams and riders will represent Area VIII at the one- and two-star North American Young Riders Championships (NAYRC) held each summer. In addition, the Young Rider Advancement Program will field Area VIII Young Rider Teams for the Mid-South Team Challenge. The Young Rider program, however, is about a lot more than competing. Participants experience:
Friendship among members, camaraderie, good sportsmanship, and group fundraising, are all cultivated within the organization. Commitment, teamwork and horsemanship are just a few of the lessons learned that are carried into adulthood.
When you join the Area VIII Young Riders program you receive:
- The opportunity to meet and work with other Young Riders
- The advantage of training with top riders and coaches
- The opportunity to take part in the Young Riders camp, clinics & seminars
- Free course walks at selected events with participating upper level riders
- The chance to represent Area VIII at the North American Young Riders Championships
- The opportunity to represent the Area VIII YRAP at the Mid-South Team Challenge
- Access to a supportive group dedicated to helping you succeed in the sport of Eventing
- Awards at participating events
- Shadow officials
- Participate in a Mentoring Program
We’re really excited about the new programs and hope you will join us.
